Danzy Buchanan Park
At the request of the Progress Association, in 1987, the land at the end of Kinsellas Road West, was
formed out of a swamy marsh into parkland and named as Danzy Buchanan Park after farmer,
Danzy Buchanan whose family farmed large tracts of land in the local area.

Along the way, funds have been raised, grants applications submitted to all levels of government
and today, Danzy Buchanan Park is now well known in the Moreton Regions for its family
playground, modern Tennis and Basketball courts and is the venue for the well know Mango Hill
       Festivals over the decades.

       Mango Hill Community Centre
In 1987 a very “ancient” basic building was delivered on site ny the then
Pine Rivers Shire Council at the request of the Progress Association as a
community centre for local community groups, two of which, the Busy Bees
playgroup (formerly Mango Hill playgroup) and the Mango Hill Progress
       Association continue to this day.

Along the way, the Association has organized small and large public social
events in the form of :

       • Pine Rivers Festivals - 1988 – 1998
       • Mango Hill Christmas Carols - 1988 >>
       • 2015 Centenary of Anzac
       • 2018 Centenary of the Armistice
       • Quarterly Kids Skate Nights (family nights)

Through working constructively with our elected representatives over the decades, whilst still maintaining a strong spirit of
advocacy, the Progress Association has gained much respect resulting in a great many projects implemented in our community.

In 2020/21 the Association has vigorously campaigned for a Fire Station in the North Lakes/Mango Hill region. To date, there
has been a commitment by the State Government and we await the concrete evidence of budget allocation and the purchase
of a suitable site. We remain confident of a positive
