Fire Station Campaign Brings Success.
The first “concrete” step to establish a fire station close to Mango
Hill & North Lakes has been taken with the State Government
Sunday 8th August 2021 purchasing a site in Narangba, following a decade long campaign
by the Mango Hill Progress Association.
5.30pm: Skate Night
On 13th July, Emergency Services Minister, Mark Ryan and State
Wednesday 18th August 2021 Member, for Bancroft, Chris Whiting announced the purchase of
7.30pm: Progress Association meeting land in Steele Street (off Boundary Rd) in Narangba to establish the
Moreton Central Fire and Rescue Station that will serve the Mango
Hill, North Lakes, Deception Bay and Narangba communities,
interlinking with Firestations at Redcliffe, Petrie, Burpengary and
Bracken Ridge.
Progress Association member and North Lakes resident Keith King,
who has long advocated for a fire station since his neighbour’s
house was burned down in 2016 was delighted with the decision.
“We have waited a long time for this announcement and look
forward to the Station being constructed.”
Progress Association President, Laurence Christie stated that
the announcement of the fire station in the very week of the
Association’s 35th Anniversary was a fitting culmination to many years of community advocacy for this station. The new fire
station, when operational, will give Officers those vital 10 minutes which will prevent damage to houses and perhaps save a life.
State Member Chris Whiting indicated that Planning works for the site will commence in this financial year following settlement
of the land, with construction of the new Moreton Bay Central Fire and Rescue Station commencing in 2022/23.
