Opening of Mango Hill
Village Shopping Centre
‘Popping down the street’ to buy
milk or bread is a long lost memory
for most with the closure of many
a ‘milk bar outlet’ and relocation of
these goods to our major shopping
precincts.
We are therefore very excited to
announce the opening of Mango
Hill Village Shopping Centre at 146
Kinsellas Road West in July.
This follows the opening of LEAD Mango Hill Village Early Learning
Centre some 12 months ago, with the retail site and childcare
centre conveniently located next door to each other.
“This retail site will be a welcome addition for the local community.
There will be an IGA Fresh supermarket, a bakery / café, a liquor
store and a swimming pool. The pool is designed to be part of the
programmes offered by our Childcare centre. The children will be
able to participate in learn-to-swim classes as part of our Healthy
Lifestyle Initiative.”
“Mango Hill is a rapidly growing suburb and the LEAD Group is
very proud to be part of this progressive community. We look
forward to seeing you at the Mango Hill Village Shopping Centre
very soon.”
Dr Nina Hefford (CEO - The LEAD Group)
How much has changed in the past 35 years for Village residents?
For those of us with experience of the 1980’s when the Village numbered less than
300 households and was surrounded by farms and pine forest, the closest retail centre
was either Kallangur or Kippa-ring. It was good news when the then “Matilda” (Now
Puma) service station arrived on Anzac Ave with its ability to buy bread and milk and
even greater “excitement” when the first Pizza home deliveries were received in the
Village in 1988.
There were great steps forward with the arrival of North Lakes Westfields in 2000
and the Mango Hill Marketplace in 2015. Yet the ability to “pop down to the local
store” to purchase those needy items “after hours” remained elusive. Now in 2021,
our Village households number over 1200 households (with the potential for another
500 homes) and the demand for that “Local” has been realized with the imminent
opening of the Kinsellas Road West Retail Centre in July. Laurence Christie

Although there will be “challenges” with the introduction of new facilities, the Progress Association)
Progress Association is confident that the benefits will outweigh any issues that may
arise. Future “traffic flow” issues are one of the concerns for the Progress Association
which will monitor the effects of a “Five-way” roundabout when the Chelmsford Rd
connection becomes operational in 2022.
The Mango Hill Progress Association welcomes Nina Hefford’s new Retail Centre to
our community. We wish the individual business operators every success as Mango
Hill residents utilise the services offered.
