Late January Rains Bring Back
Memories of February 2022 Floods
Overnight on 30 January, had the storm system been just
5-10km to the east, Mango Hill would have seen a repeat of
the dreadful flood of February 2022 that impacted terribly
on some 50 homes in the Village, still vivid in the memories
of local residents. As it turned out, Mango Hill received just
80mm of rain this time.

Moreton Bay Region was much in the eye of mother nature as
many areas west of Bray Park, Strathpine over to the Samford
Valley corridor, up through to Dayboro and Caboolture were
flood impacted, receiving between 250 to 380 mm in just 3-6 hrs.
For many in those areas, it was a repeat of February 2022. The
thoughts and best wishes of Mango Hill Residents go to all who
have been adversely impacted.
If the Road is Flooded – Forget It!
A message not heeded by one Bus Driver.
At 6.22am on Tuesday, 30th January a School Bus (thankfully
with no passengers) attempted to negotiate the tight corner
of Kinsellas Rd West and Chermside Road around Danzy
Buchanan Park through waters that appeared to allow safe
passage. It was not to be with the result being that the bus fell
into the side drains, necessitating heavy transport tow trucks
to pull the bus out.
Councillor Jodie Shipway has advised the Mango Hill News
that a previously approved Council Work’s order for additional
Guide posts at this tight corner will be expedited, whilst not
excusing the decision of the driver to enter a flooded road.
