Fire Station Funding For Mango Hill/North Lakes Approved
At the Progress Association Meeting held on Wednesday night,
State Member for Bancroft, Chris Whiting announced that the
Government had approved funding for a Fire Station in the
Mango Hill North Lakes area.
This announcement follows years of the Mango Hill Progress
Association advocating strongly and consistently for a Fire
Station for the fast growing Mango Hill/North Lakes community.
In February 2020 the Progress Association met with Emergency
Services Minister Craig Crawford to seek to convince the Minister
and Senior Emergency Officers of the essential need for such a
facility in our community given local population expansion.
The Mango Hill Progress Association acknowledges the tenacity
of Progress Member, Keith King for his consistent lobbying at
Association meetings and also State Members, Chris Whiting
and Steven Miles for their advocacy on behalf of the community.
In response to a question from the Chair as to “would the Fire
station be built by 2024”, Chris Whiting indicated that it would be
operational within 2-3 years. The Government’s first step must
be to acquire a suitable site promptly before the area is built out.
After that, Association will be watching and waiting keenly for
the foundations to be laid.
