Luxury over 50’s lifestyle community on   From the Classroom to the Courtroom;



 Brisbane’s northside officially launched  TLC makes more than a Moot Point



       It was a proud moment for The Lakes College when their Mooting
       Team were announced the winners of the University of Southern
       Queensland’s prestigious Secondary Schools Moot Competition
       for  2022.  Hosted  at the  Ipswich  Magistrates  Court,  Year  11
       students, Molly Tulip, Octavia Chivange and Carys Lee secured
       the top title, prevailing over 23 teams from 15 different schools.
       District Court Judge, His Honour Judge Alexander Horneman-
       Wren SC; District Court Judge, His Honour Judge Ian Dearden
       and Head of the University of Southern Queensland’s Law and
       Justice, Professor Reid Mortensen presided over the case. The
       Grand Final was the culmination of a round robin competition,
       which commenced earlier in May. The teams Coordinator and
       Coach, Mr Flynn, said he could not be prouder of how the team
       performed and notes “the victory is the direct result of the
       determination, drive, talent and extraordinary capacity of the
       students involved”. Molly, Octavia and Carys were cheered on
       by their Year 12 mentors (Therese, Aarush and Maisie) who were
       seated front row in the packed courtroom.              Not only was the team victorious, but Octavia was regarded as
                                                              the Best Single Advocate of the Grand Final, receiving the Shine
