ANZAC Commemoration – 19th April
THE BUGLE SOUNDED & SIMPSON THE HERO IS REMEMBERED IN MANGO HILL
It was brilliant evening on 19th April in Mango Hill with some 40
local residents standing in respect as the sounds of the Last Post
& Reveille played by guest bugler, Stewart Boston Dart, rang out
over on the lawn of the Mango Hill Community Centre. They had
gathered to remember the servicemen and women who have
died in conflict and reflect on the sacrifice of all members of the
Australia Defence services over the past 122 years.
In the tradition of the Mango Hill Progress Association, the
ceremony was led by Trevor Ruthenberg (former RAAF Soldier),
and supported by the young Cadets of 103 Aust Cadet Unit who
mounted a catafalque party around the remembrance stone
and Australian flag with local resident Brianna Kelly, reciting the
“Ode”. Wreaths were laid by Mrs Bronwyn Ninness (for Mango Hill
Progress Association, Mrs Judy Kranen (RSL) and Cameron Cobb
on behalf of family members.
It was both a moving and inspiring experience to be entertained Local artist, Dave Norman reminded those present in song (his

The Anzac partnership was further empowered through the

Progress Association President, Laurence Christie closed the
service, echoing the often forgotten but amazing efforts of
volunteers, both on the stage of conflict and back on the home
front, in support of our troops on the front line. That volunteerism
is as essential and important today, in times of peace as it is in
times of conflict.
