Mango Hill Sign Returned to The Bruce (Finally)
Long-time Readers of the Mango Hill News from 2008, would be aware of the lengthy
campaign by the Mango Hill Progress Association to have “Mango Hill” added to the road-
side signs on the Bruce Highway (both northbound & southbound). This campaign was
finally successful in 2019 when this and a southbound sign (across) were recently installed,
giving drivers greater knowledge of Exit 132 locations.
Damage to Sign: When in February 2022, the northbound sign (just prior to the Bray Road
overpass) was taken out in a traffic incident, it was expected it might have been replaced
within months. When by October 2022, the sign had not appeared, the Association made
representations to our State Member, Chris Whiting, following this up in April 2023 to ensure
that it had not fallen into a “Black Hole”.
It is pleasing to report that the sign was eventually replaced only 2 weeks ago (late September
2023), giving directions that Exit 132 would lead them to both Mango Hill and North Lakes.
On a related matter, there appears to be a very slow process in the Dept of Main Roads (TMR)
taking note of damaged or hard to read road signs up and down our major roads, including
the Gateway Motorway.
The photo (left) shows a damaged sign (now over 3 months) on the other side of the Bray
Road overpass, which does not reflect well on the 1000s of commuters every day. The
Progress Association has requested that our State Member follow up with TMR on repairing
this sign.
