investigate those concerns and report back to residents.
Luke Howarth spoke with flood affected residents and
encouraged them to apply for Federal Government assistance, a
financial payment available to eligible flood impacted residents.

During the afternoon and evening, the Progress Association
provided regular reports to Council, with Councillor Jodie
Shipway responding to emails at 11.27pm on that Sunday night
calling for skip bins urgently.
With many hundreds of communities around the region
suffering similar flooding, it was a massive effort by Moreton
Bay Regional Council in the days following to provide “skip bins”
for affected residents to commence the heart-breaking role of
removing flood damaged goods and furniture from their homes.
Within 3 days, Councillor Shipway and Mayor Peter Flannery,
along with Federal MP, Luke Howarth visited village residents
to view the stoic efforts of residents and to listen to concerns
raised by many. These centred on the ability of water to flow
into the water courses (Saltwater Creek and Bramble Bay). Both

Unlike 2015 when the hall had a mere 75mm through it, this
time it was 320mm, well above the cupboard floorboards
necessitating electrical and building inspections to ensure the
building was safe.
Outside, the waters rose to a level not experienced in the past 45
years with 1.6m over the Tennis Court as shown by the markings
on the Tennis shed.
Then the Mango Hill Village Mud Army kicked in following a call
out on the local Facebook page.
