Joy Bowman’s Phoenix Homestead - A Distant Vision!
As outline in the March Issue of the Mango Hill News, a past resident, Joy Bowman had sought to use her financial resources and
her property to build for her community, a “Hospice” for adults with a disability, one being her own son who sadly passed away on
Christmas Day 2002.
The “Phoenix Homestead” was that goal and over a period of 8 years, this truly remarkable lady formed an Incorporated Association
(Phoenix Homestead) with some remarkable and talented colleagues and obtained Council building approval for her dream in
2009. Sadly, with her health failing, that dream faded post 2009 with Joy passing away some years ago.
Joy Bowman’s name however, will live on in the Street Names of Joy Crescent and Bowman Court in the new Havenlane Development,
with construction of 16 blocks ranging from 400 to 602sqm to commence in early 2023.
