Lamington Road to Anzac Ave: Works to Commence this Month
After a decade of anticipation and for many, significant doubt,
work will commence this month on the most anticipated road
project in the region as in a few weeks, a City of Moreton Bay
Road Crew will set up a works depot and begin clearing the site.
It is anticipated that residents along Lamington Road will receive
from Council, official notification of commencement of works in
line with advice given to the Progress Association recently.
Council’s Project Coordinator has provided the Mango Hill
Progress Association with the following details:
• Extension of Lamington Rd to Anzac Ave (approx. 165m)
• Two lane, median divided road - separated turn lanes at
Anzac Ave intersection
• On road bicycle lanes
• Concrete pathways (both sides of the road)
• Pedestrian crossing facilities at Anzac Ave intersection
with modifications to existing Capestone Blvd pedestrian
facilities
• Landscaping and street tree planting - approx. 68 street
trees and over 1,800 ground cover plants
Note: Council is very mindful of the importance to maintain pedestrian and bicycle access via Lamington Rd to Anzac Ave for
school and rail commuters with plans in place to direct such movement around the site.
Staged construction timelines: It is anticipated that the Works will be in 3 stages.
1. Extension of Lamington Road up to but NOT connecting to Anzac Ave by
Christmas.
2. Relocation by Unity Water of the significant Water Mains parallel to Anzac Ave
and which service Redcliffe City by mid-2024. These works are very complex given
the size of the mains and the high pressure/volume of water required to service
Redcliffe.
3. Connection across Anzac Ave to Capestone Boulevard by end of 2024
Whilst many residents may be disappointed by these timelines, Council has confirmed
that the works involved in coordinating with Unity Water with the redirection of
the Water mains are a major factor in planning, along with significant challenges in
sourcing materials.
Mango Hill Ring Road:
Since 2013, Council has sought to finalize the
various stages of the Mango Hill Ring Road
with the aim of reducing traffic on Anzac Ave.
When Lamington Road is finally connected
to Anzac Ave and Capestone Dr, it will close
the missing link that will allow circular traffic
around Mango Hill from Kinsellas Rd West
via Memorial Ave, Discovery Dr, Halpine Dr,
Mango Hill Blvd and Capestone Ave back to
Kinsellas Rd West via Lamington Road. It will
also provide an eastern access to the north
via Anzac Ave and across to the schools and
Mango Hill East Railway station.
