Gardening Mango Hill: Our Community Gardeners

take out Pine Rivers Show Awards

Anyone passing by the Alice/John Street corner could not fail
to appreciate the “green finger” touch of Bronwyn & Garnett
who both lovingly tend to their “Pit” on the Alice Street
footpath, their corner hedge and their “vegie” garden.

Elsewhere in the Village, Paul & Anne Micallef (John Street) and
Edith & Paul Buchanan (Kinsellas Rd West) have applied their
own “green thumbs” to their “vegie” and Flower Gardens to such
an extent that Bronwyn entered all 3 in the Pine Rivers Show in
August. The outcome for their efforts was a number of 1st prizes
& 2nd prizes in many categories, some of which include:

                         Bronwyn Ninness:
Beetroot, Shallots, Silver Beet, Lemons & Flowers
                           Paul Micallef:
Onions, Tomatoes, Parsley, Potatos, Basket of Vegetables
                          Edit Buchanan:
                 Passionfruit, Avocados, Sweet Potatoes

        “Bronwyn Ninness the Organiser”

“Our Mango Hill community gardeners would not have received
so many prizes at the Pine Rivers Show held recently in Lawnton
without the encouragement and organisation of our colleague,
Bronwyn Ninness. Bronwyn made it happen and organised us
into action, collected the individual goods that had been grown -
vegetables, fruit and flowers and it was also Bronwyn who took all
those entries, along with their registrations to the showgrounds to
enter the various sections on display.

Bronwyn is a wonderful lady with great sense of community pride
which is reflected in her also being awarded Life Membership of the
Mango Hill Progress Association after decades of helping others as
she continues to do each day. On the gardening front, it is wonderful
to see that there are many people still growing their own food in our
       ever-changing world”.

From Edith Buchanan (Kinsellas Rd West)

New Moreton Bay Central Fire Station
                                                                      operational from November

On 31st August, Qld Fire & Rescue advised the Mango Hill
